RED RAG - Last collective minutes - star date 6.7.1986 Present - Maryon, Laura, John H., Ian, Paul - cheers to Laura for fresh air and goodies. 1. Larry's letter - considered his offer of taking over paid ads - with gusto! Suggests we give him 6 months trying to put Rag on a viable financial footing - Pogle agrees. Also offers to take up keeping accounts and bearing cost of postage & phone calls - with some provisos - editorial groups must ensure ads go in; all paid ads to go through Larry and give him leeway to negotiate price of ads etc. Thought it was a good idea - can offer some funds, unless Larry particularly wants to donate them. 2. Belated Spring clean; distribution; co-ordinator crisis; new people. There was a general discussion concerning how to keep the Rag going. Ideas involved stressing the fact that we need new people, who have energy and commitment to the job; we need to trim down the numbers via Distribution, more outlets and phase out distribution to individuals. Put paper out as Events / Going Out Rag only; write to local groups to solicit for articles. Strike up new contacts for articles. Need revamp Red Rag ideas for next meet. Note: Leeds Other Paper is a co-operatively run one and has some interesting ideas (see copy at Acorn). 3. Money raising - Crown gigs / Paradise plus other events needed. Ads can help if there is a Rag to advertise in. Money in hand at present is £58ish. 4. Missing copy, ads money etc. not enough care has been taken on chasing up these two items... 5. Next Rag to be held over, as there are no new co-ordinators at this meeting available and haven't been many for the last few months - too much rests on too few? All interested welcome! Tell your friends! 6. Money part 2. - 'Class War' idea of selling papers and making on how many are sold etc., also recommended, donation idea was proposed. 7. Next meeting: Ideas plus proposals for action & hopefully resurrection of Red Rag, for next collective. Meanwhile Rag is suspended until these forthcoming ideas bring about a longer term way of keeping the Rag going - next meeting 3.8.1986 - 12 noon - picnic.
