humbug humbug humbug humbug humbug humbug humbug humbug humbug humbug humbug RED RAG Red Rag’s Christmas vengeance. Volume two, number twentyish. Printed and published c/o 31B Milman Road, Reading. If you have information about events, meetings and so forth, write us a note or phone it in on Reading 891841 before Friday January 9, which will cover events for the following fortnight. This is a special discursive issue as we don’t have much to tell you about events over the next couple of weeks. In fact the only thing we know about before Christmas is on 19 December, when there is and Ecology Party Party, at which all members, friends, etc are welcome. Take a bottle and £1 to John Stannard’s at 16 Lund Farm Road, Woodley – phone 695221. After that, it’s over indulgence all the way until I January, when there is a Women’s Meeting at Number Five, in Sackville Street. It starts at 8pm, and is for all women in and around Reading. Then on Monday 5 January when there are two things to choose from – there is a discussion on Ireland run by the International Marxist Group at 8pm at St David’s Hall, London Road, for sympathisers of IMG. And from the Ecology Party we have this: ‘The Ecology Party is alive and (relatively) well in Reading! It meets at Peter Dunn’s (tel 822940) on 5 January, and Richard Shears’ (tel 589845) on January 19 and then fortnightly, alternating between the two venues. All interested are welcome. General infor on Eco – contact Maria Callias, tel 663195.’ On that Thursday (8 January) the Socialist Workers Party will be talking about Violence and Revolution at 8pm at the Ren Lion in Southampton Street. The next night, which for those who can’t count is Friday 9 January, there is a women’s discussion for women with and without kids on combatting the Sexism that comes from outside the home in child rearing. For venue call Lucy on 477797. That’s really all there is, except to remind you 9 January is the last date for giving us copy for the next issue, and to point out that with this you should have received the first issue of Red Mag, celebrating out first birthday three months late. We will do more like this if there is the demand and the money – it cost us £50, which we have paid out of our overdrafts. So send us money please. Cheques payable to Red Rag. If we get £50 (fat chance?) we’ll produce another mag toot sweet. Hist- orical footnote: red rag started life as as the Reading Anarchist Group (thus RAG – geddit?) newsletter, which it remained for a couple of issues. It now reaches 500-odd people every fortnight, and is done and financed by a very few people. We hope that in a couple of years it will be a weekly reaching four or five times as many. If you want to help, get in touch.
